Argostoli

The capital town on the island, set against a blue sea lagoon and dramatic mountain back drop.
Only 10-15 minutes from the airport by car/taxi, and an ideal base all year round to explore the spectacular scenery and resorts of the north, or simply visit the local beaches of Lassi by day
(taxi’s in the square, or by bus, or walk), and enjoy the shopping and restaurants, bars and cafes on your doorstep in the evenings.

AMENITIES:

Central Vallianou Square - with it’s cafes/bars/restaurants, also the hub of any traditional cultural events and festivals.
Lithostroto – the long, main shopping street in Argostoli, open early morning until 2pm, and again in the evenings from around 6pm onwards.
Ferry to Lixouri – on the sea front opposite Diana’s taverna, with regular ferries throughout the day and evening to Lixouri (takes around 25 mins), the original capital town on the island.
Car/Bike Hire – plenty of choice one you get here if you haven’t yet booked any transport at the airport – we certainly recommend that even if you stay for just one week, you spend a day visiting Myrtos, Assos and Fiscardo.
Eating Out - far too many restaurants and cafe’s to recommend! many within a short stroll of the apartment, or try the waterside Vinaries and Water Mill tavernas along the lighthouse road ?
Bus Depot – situated at the opposite end of town to the apartment - regular buses around the island and to Sami, if in particular you fancy a ferry trip across to Ithaca?
Fruit & Vegetable Market - along the seafront daily, plus take in the gorgeous bakery and coffee aromas whilst you shop!
Walkers! – many locals walks including the wooded seafront road to the lighthouse, past the famous Katavothres (now a designer wine bar/restaurant/cafe, with weekend club nights and visiting DJ’s throughout the summer season), continue on to Lassi if you like an extended walk!?, or head for the hill above Argostoli to see the stunning views across the bay and out to the open sea whilst stopping to note the Italian war memorial on the top.
Wine tasting at the Gentilini Boutique Winery - available during the day or evenings in high summer - the winery is situated at Minies on the road between the airport and Lassi (you will see the Gentilini name on the main building) - they are a family run winery since 1978 and have recently won gold and silver medal awards for their red, rose and white wines - call Mike or Petros on +30 26710 41618 or have a look on www.gentilini.gr
